Back in January I met with Gina Evans, and we discussed her new business venture and how I could help with my photography.

In Gina’s words:

Dog Days Café Treats came about from several factors. I’ve had a life-long love of dogs (cats too, but my first child was highly allergic, and my current dogs REALLY don’t like cats). Ever since I got Belle and Bruce, I’ve wished for somewhere I could take them where we could hang out together. I’ve visited dog-friendly cities and towns that have dog bakeries, and I thought a place like that would be a great addition to the local community. Add that to the facts that I wanted a change from working on a computer and I’ve always wanted my own business, toss in an empty nest and the desire to spend more time doing fun things with my dogs, and Dog Days Café Treats was born.

I have a multiple-phase vision for our business. We’re in Phase 1 now, which is establishing a customer base by selling everyday bagged treats and holiday and special occasion treats through local outlets and our website. Phase 2 is opening a bakery/café where people can come and buy our all natural treats made with human-grade ingredients, pick up a little something for themselves, and hang out with their pets, complete with educational classes and Yappy Hour for socializing pets. Eventually I’d love to have a dog park with agility-type equipment and fun things people can do with their pets—maybe indoor/outdoor, because it gets so hot to play outside here during the summer. This type of facility may have to be Phase 3, but I’d love to combine it with Phase 2! Starting a new business is scary, especially in this economy, so I’m boot-strapping it while I keep a “day job.” I look forward to the day when I can open my doors and do Dog Days full-time.”

Together with Gina and Belle and Bruce, we managed to take several photographs (yes, the photographs of the dogs on the packaging are taken by me :-). The treats are complete and now the website is live so head on over!

I hope that Gina is successful with Dog Days Café Treats – I’m pretty sure she will be! Go visit her website and get your dogs some tasty treats while you are there while also helping out a new small business owner!
